I was traveling from Chennai to Bangalore.

The journey this time was a very fulfilling experience. I was actually lost I the beauty of the landscapes that were painted in myriad shades of the changing sun. Travel itself has a very strange quality to it. The moving houses, parallel tracks and animated still life put you into thought. Silence gives you bliss and you enjoy the serenity of life.

The setting sun looked beautiful. Its red shades had painted the whole world with its charismatic tinge. It looked like the whole world was blushing with elegance.

I also sat back and composed a song for my next project. Well I must thank Mr. Mozart the musical genius for inspiring me to do so. I just saw the movie Amadeus in the morning and that moved me into composing some stuff.

I came back home and was having dinner. I accidentally watched a special feature program on the Special Arm force Protection Act on CNN IBN. Thank god! sensible journalism still exists!!!

The story was about the havocs that this act is causing in Manipur. How innocent lives are endangered due to this act and how the innocents have lost their dignity. I was horrified to see how some mothers who lost their innocent children due to this act protested naked in front of the judiciary only to be arrested as terrorists.

I was even more horrified to see how pamphlets were being distributed all over the streets in Manipur. Nothing new in pamphlets being distributed, but their content was horrifying. It had guidelines of how anybody in that state could be raped and how easily they could deal with the physical and mental trauma caused by rape. It is the brutal reality and practicality of the situation that stirred a storm in my heart that will quite never settle

The most moving of them all was the story of this iron lady, ‘Irom Sharmila’. A woman who is single handedly fighting against the center for the abolition of the Act that is responsible for all the tragedies in Manipur. She set on a satyagraha to protest against the act in 2000 and has been fasting ever since. She has lost many of her body parts and is out of her menstrual cycles too. But she is not bothered and she will not let go of her struggle at any cost.

The government termed her agitation as an attempt to suicide and arrested her to keep her in security hospital. She is released every year for two days and re arrested for a year.

What a woman and hats off to her strength. Today inspiration has come to me from so many places. I hope all these inspirations keep coming to me and make me a better person.

As far as Manipur is concerned, my heart burns and I feel helpless right now. I however through this blog extend my support and solidarity to Sharmila and all the women who are fighting a battle to regain their dignity. BRAVO!
