Raaga Sudhaa Rasa

Recently I gave a lecture on Mudduswamy Deekshitar in Bangalore to a group of selected but elite audience.

This experience will remain a much cherished event of my life. I was singing and talking about one of my favorite composers Deekshitar. I spoke on parallel lines on the musical concepts and the Adhyatmic concepts of Shankaracharya, the two most favorite people of my life. I had done some research and I was pretty enlightened in this process. I got to lean many things that I had no idea about.

The kritis that I chose to sing and talk about where:

Sri Guru na paalitosmi paadi

Aanandaamritakarshini amruta varshini

Sadaachaleswaram bhoopaalam

Dharma samvardhani madhyamaavati

Hiranmayeem lakshmim lalita

Meenakshi me mudam dehi Purvi Kalyani

It is great to sing these compositions on any given day. I can just forget anything on this planet and loose myself in these compositions. It is such a treasure and you feel so delighted that you are blessed enough to enjoy and listen to these compositions.

I did nireval for two major lines. One in Lalita -- sangeetha vaadya vinodini girijam taam indiraam

And the second one in purvi kalyani -- meena lochani pasha mochani

A friend of mine who was present on the occasion clicked some pictures. I was just looking at that and wondering what was in my mind. Now I can’t even remember. When on stage, especially when you are lost in music you are not yourself! That is something I know.

I wish I could just keep singing all the time. I feel life would be so much more beautiful.

Raga sudhaa rasapaanamu jesi,

ranjillave vo manasa!!!
